Power of a 30 Second Video

A video is the most powerful way to communicate on the internet today! Having personally produced thousands of commercials, I've witnessed their power. Buying a car? A mattress? A beer? A smartphone? You've seen it on video. We are visual input creatures. 80% of what we perceive to be "real" we experience through our visual cortex. And, for most people the rest of the experience is auditory.

We are primarily visual, auditory, or kinetic learners. Most recently, with the use of touch
screens, video engages all three types of learning. It's important to keep in mind that we remember the thoughts and ideas to which we attach strong emotion. In some European countries, advertisers and marketers aren't permitted to use a puppy or a baby in videos unless it's an integral part of the product message. Why? Because they know the power of those images. We are hard-wired to respond to certain images and sounds. A mother may actually start to lactate at the sound of a crying baby. Certain music can induce a sense of happiness and joy or a sense of fear and foreboding.

A thirty second video is really one minute of information.Thirty seconds of audio. Thirty seconds of video. Since a picture is said to be worth a thousand words you have plenty of opportunity to tell your story. It takes discipline and experience to do it in half a minute.
