Converting Your Facebook Personal Page to a Business Page

After hearing all the buzz about the importance of Social Media Marketing, you may have jumped on the band wagon quickly and connected to your target audience with your personal Facebook Profile. But since Facebook began to offer business pages a few years ago, your are losing out on many opportunities a business page can offer you versus a personal profile. Some of these opportunities include Facebook advertising, higher public insights, higher follower rates, and building trust in your brand.

However, you don't want to give up all your images, followers and connections you’ve already made by starting all over again. Well you don’t have to! Below are step-by-step directions for converting your personal profile to your new business page and maximizing your Social Media strategy!

Here are some quick facts you need to know before getting started to switch from a personal profile to a business page.

• Facebook will convert all your current friends to followers.

• Facebook will transfer your current profile picture.

• Your account username will become the username for the new page.

• The name on your personal account will become the page’s name.

• No other information or things you have shared will be moved over to the new
page. This is why it is important to save information before converting to the new
account. You can download the information by following the below instructions.

Downloading Facebook Information

  1. Click the arrow at the top right of the Facebook page and select Settings.
  2. Click Download a copy of your Facebook data below your General Account Settings.
  3. Click Start my Archive.

Last, if you want to download your information such as your sent and received private messages or photos and videos you uploaded, do so before converting.

Once you have all your information backed up, you are now ready convert your personal account to a Facebook Business page!

  1. Go to Profile to Page Migration.
  2. Click to choose a category for your Page.
  3. Select a more specific category from the dropdown
    menu and fill out the required information.
  4. Click Get Started and follow the on-screen instructions.
